Since I released my first Atomic Amplifire pack in January 2016, I received many requests for a
new batch of presets. It took me some time (not that I’ve been inactive since then; I’ve been
working on presets for other processors, which became incredibly popular, and also on new
custom IRs – more on that later), but here they are at last!
This time, I’ve chosen to release smaller packs, each of which are dedicated to one amp model.
Each pack has from 14 to 20 presets (details below*) with each using a different custom cab
(except the Top Boost pack). All these cabs are new and were not used in my 1st pack. They
come from an extensive collection of custom IRs (another name for the cabs) I’ve made in the
past two years, mainly with tone-matching/IR captures of my own cabs. The cabs used are not
the same in each pack. Of course, you can use those cabs with your own presets (just click on
FROM PRESET in the cab selection panel and chose which of my presets you want to import the
cab from).
Tonally, they are quite different to the presets from my first pack – I made them warmer, fatter,
and some would say “more organic”. I can honestly say that I’m getting better and better at
programming presets with the users of my Helix presets even saying this! I even surprised
myself here, especially on some trickier amp models that I didn’t like as much as the others
when I first worked on the Amplifire. Reading documentation on various famous tube amps,
using real amps (I have a Friedman, a Mesa MK IV, and had recently owned a Bogner Atma, two
different EVH 5150 models and a Victory) and of course, making presets for various processors
all year long, helped me perfect my craft.
Details on the different packs
1. 5051, Arkhan (*), Brit 800, Freedman, Hot Brit, Kornfield, Marc IV, Plexi, Recto, SLO
Each of those packs has 14 presets, tweaked for lead playing, with delay and reverb (the reverb
and delay settings change from preset to preset), and generous gain, with a booster. The same
presets can of course be used for rhythm – just bypass the delay, lower/shorten (or even
bypass) the reverb, maybe lower the gain/the mids, bypass the booster etc. So from one lead
preset, you can make a rhythm one, a crunch one etc… These presets can be used as starting
points to make your own. I made sure all the modulation settings are usable even though the
modulation blocks are bypassed. Gain wise, the presets in each pack are mostly in the same
ballpark ; however, the cabinet and EQing in each preset is different, so what you have here is
plenty of tonal options. (*) The Arkhan pack is new, released in January 2019.
2. ’59 BMan, D Luxe, US Clean
Each of these packs has 15 presets, using 10 different cabs (1 cab was used in my previous
pack, the other 9 are new). 10 of those presets are clean, 5 are on the edge of breakup/crunch.
In the clean presets, Chorus/flanger/phaser/tremolo settings are always the same (and
bypassed by default), however delay (also bypassed by default) and reverb settings are
different. The BST pedal, which is also bypassed by default, has been tweaked in each individual
preset to match the amp settings/cab used, for a classic rock/vintage hard rock tone.
3. Top Boost
The Top Boost Amp Pack has 14 presets, using 6 different cabs, 5 of which are new. Those
presets range from clean to edge of breakup to crunch to maximum gain. The
modulation/delay/reverb settings are the same in each preset, except in the last one where the
delay is set for Brian May’s live solo in “Brighton Rock”.
4. Rumble, Rumble Brite
Each of those two packs has 20 presets, using 20 different cabs, most of which are new.
Modulation settings are the same in each preset, reverb and delay settings are different. These
presets are made for lead playing in blues/fusion style.
The 15 packs totals 225 presets, which is almost twice what the Amplifire can store – thus
giving you many, many options to choose from.
Pricing : each Amplifire Amp Pack costs only € 9. If you want all of them (16 packs, for a total of
239 presets), the price for the bundle is € 85 instead of € 144.
Legal stuff : Those presets are for Atomic Amplifire (all versions, but not the Firebox!) with
firmware 5.0.3 (EXCEPT the Arkhan pack, which is new and needs firmware6.1.1). This is a
digital download : no refund even in case of buying by mistake. Reselling/sharing the pack is
illegal: this licensed product is protected by copyright laws and international copyright treaties,
as well as other intellectual property laws and treaties. This licensed product is licensed, not
sold.
IMPORTANT NOTE : After purchase, the files will be available in the “Purchase history”
section of my website. These files are in a .zip compressed archive, which is a standard format.
PC users can use Winrar, Winzip or 7zip to extract them. Popular tools for MAC users are Stuffit
Expander, Unrar x or The Unarchiver. Most computers already have tools for that, and most of
these applications are free.
