Some of you have been with me long enough to know that I’ve always worked at the intersection of instinct and precision — the artist’s ear guiding the engineer’s hand. That combination is what I’ve always tried to bring to my presets. With Guitar Heroes Vol. 1, I kept that approach but pushed the technical side further than I ever have before.
Every preset still starts in the same place: feel. Musicality. Asking whether the tone does what it should do to you emotionally. That never changes. But this time, every decision was also verified against the original studio recordings using advanced spectral analysis — comparing frequency response, gain structure, pick
dynamics, harmonic content, reverb character, delay timing, all of it. Not just ‘does it sound close?’ but measurable, quantified accuracy at a level I’ve never attempted before. The result is something I genuinely couldn’t have made any other way.
Each pack includes a detailed Excel reference file with the full preset list, sounds included per preset, pickup position recommendations, IR numbers, and usage notes.
These packs were ported from the Axe-Fx III versions, with the limitations of the AM4 (only 4 blocks, no pitch block). I didn’t make an AM4 demo, but the sounds are identical that of the Axe-Fx III version, minus, in some cases, the blocks that are not available. Here’s some demos for the Axe-Fx III versions :
