These presets covers 28 songs : Another brick in the wall Pt 1 & 2, The happiest days of our lives, Breathe, Comfortably numb, Coming back to life, Dogs, Echoes, Goodbye blue sky, Have a cigar, Hey you, High hopes, In the flesh, Marooned, Money, Mother, On the turning away, Run like hell, Shine on you crazy diamond, The final cut, The great gig in the sky, Time, Us and them, Any color you like, Brain damage/Eclipse, Wish you were here, Young lust. Coming back to life & Dogs were added with firmware 2.02 update. These presets uses custom cabs, which are included.
Latest version included is for firmware 9.02, which is a major revision of all the sounds. Here’s a demo for the Axe-Fx III version, the FM9 versions are exactly the same :
For this version, all presets were tweaked with two SSS Stratocasters (***) : one with the EMG DG20 kit as used by David Gilmour on PULSE, the other with a Seymour Duncan SSL-5 in bridge, as used by Gilmour on his famous Black Strat. I also changed my approach to the Gilmour sound here, using only overdrive/fuzz pedals into clean amps (Hiwatt DR103 and Fender Twin Reverb). At the beginning of the year, I went into a OD/fuzz pedals buying spree, and spent months experimenting with them (and capturing them with Tonex/Quad Cortex/Headrush Prime etc.). I then recreated my favorite sounds from these experiments with the Axe-Fx III/FM9 drive models/clean amp platforms.
I also found the best online service to isolate guitar tracks (better than Moises, RipX or Lalala.ai) and used that on all Pink Floyd songs included here, to better isolate, then analyze, the original recordings. As usual, the sounds are a combination of studio and live recordings. Often, the live versions have more ambience (delay/reverb), and more gain. However, here, I use less gain than before.
(***) except “Run like hell”, which should be played on a Telecaster.
Most presets are tweaked for the live versions of the songs, as played by Gilmour-era Pink Floyd, or David Gilmour in solo. “Money” is tweaked for the “Delicate sound of thunder” live version (the cleaner scene is for the keyboard/bass/vocals solo), “Mother” for Roger Waters “The wall” live version, with the extended intro and outro. “Echoes” doesn’t have the middle psychedelic parts, only the intro/verses/chorus and solos.
