Fremen’s Essentials for the Boss GX-100 is a collection of cleans/rock/fusion/metal tones, using all the Amps of the GX-100. The focus here is on getting the best tones with each amp model. These sounds are meant to be used to play at home or any pop-rock-metal-modern blues cover band – I play in various bands myself.
The original release of the pack had 84 presets. For firmware 2.00, there are now much more than that, as there are two versions of the 41 mid to high gain presets : one with stock cabs, the other with my custom IRs. Two bonus setlists were also added with firmware 2.00 : one with 22 bass presets, one with 9 presets using the new X-Amp models and 1 preset recreating the famous Rockman sound. There are now 157 presets in total.
These presets were made with a Fender Stratocaster type guitar (SSS, or HSS). I usually use the bridge humbucker for moderate distortion to high gain, and single coils (bridge + middle, or neck, or also both humbuckers on a HH guitar) for clean tones and edge of breakup/light crunch. The CTL 1 switch is used in almost all presets, for tonal variation (rhythm/lead, or adding modulations/delays etc). Made on a GT-1000 Core, they are fully compatible with the regular, non-Core version of the Boss GT-1000.
These presets are meant to be used with the RECORDING Output mode, and in stereo, ideally with FRFR amps and/or studio monitors, and direct to PA.
