This is my main pack for the Fractal Audio AX8, with Quantum firmware 7.02 (older firmware not supported). It’s the presets I use live with my cover bands, or which I use just for fun. There’s 128 presets here. It’s almost the same collection than the one for Axe-Fx II, except a few presets that couldn’t be adapted due to missing effects blocks or not enough CPU power. The missing presets has been replaced by other presets from Axe-Fx II’s “Metal & Brit” pack.
EDIT 22 March 2018 : there’s now a Quantum 9.04 version of the presets available in the package, use this version if you have Quantum 9.04 or above in your AX8.
Edit 8th August 2018 : one bonus preset added for Quantum 10. Quantum 9.04 presets works perfectly with Quantum 10.
These presets will work with a variety of guitars but are optimized for superstrats with a humbucker in bridge and neck and a single coil in the middle. I used an Ibanez RG to tweak them and usually uses position 4 of the pickup selector (middle single coil pickup + splitted bridge humbucker) for the clean and crunch presets, and the bridge or neck humbuckers for mid to high gain. These presets are for FRFR systems, not traditional guitar speakers. Updates, if necessary because of changes in the firmware, will always be free.
These presets uses 51 user cabs, which I made from free sources and various techniques like tone matching. All those cabs are included and must be installed at the user spots indicated by their names (see video, link below). A few are my personal mixes of cabs from Valhallir.at, who gave me permission to share them with my presets. Check their cabs here : http://valhallir.at/en/
Installation procedure for presets :
My presets comes in banks of 8, which you can send where you want in your AX8. Backup your own presets first ! And send them to empty spots or over presets you don’t want to keep.
Installation procedure for cabs :
This video was made with an Axe-Fx but the procedure is the same with the AX8. You need to drag & drop each cab to its correct spot, according to its filename (Cab 001 goes to user spot 001, etc.)

I just bought the Fremen’s picks pack.
My problem is:
When I want to upload the presets with fractal bot midi utility, It goes till the end, but nothing uploaded to AX8. The bank is empty.
By the way you write : AX8, with Quantum firmware 7.02. But I can see on fractal’s page only 7.01 is avaiable yet.

Just purchased and have downloaded quite a few. Relatively new to the AX8. I am wondering about the output levels. Many are at what i consider normal volume, but there are many that are ear shattering and Output levels what i would think are higher than anyone would use. Are these loud presets at the actual level you play with. In the back of my mind just wondering if i have something mixed up] and when turning down a preset – is there a rule of thumb you advise (like master volume or mixer level or ?). Thanks

Hello, something is definitely wrong here ; what firmware are you using ? My presets are not louder that the norm. To turn down level use the level parameter in the amp block

Hi Mate, loving the presets, however having a problem as a lot of the presets are not giving me any sound. i assume they are synced to be used by a pedal. could you explain how to get the most out of the patches that need pedals if thats ok ?

Hello, this is unrelated to the expression pedals, no sound = you forgot to load all my user cabs, or didn’t load them at the right spots. just use thei file number for that – cab named “OO3 – Brighter Morgan” goes to user 003 and so on. I drag and drop the cabs in Tools/cab Manage for that

Just downloaded the free acoustic sim pack. Problem is when I use fractal bot to transfer it, it says “the selected file is not supported by the fractal bot. Please use ax8-edit to transfer this file”. Any help is appreciated thanks!

Yes because these are bundle presets, you need to use AX8-Edit and the “Import bundle” function

Hi Steve, yes some presets uses scenes, and some don’t. There’s a preset list in a spreadsheet, explaining which presets have scenes etc

I have been using “Cleans and Blues” for quite a while and I love the tones! I just got “Fremen’s Picks” and entered the cabs. They went from U001 (An acoustic preset) to 51. Many Cabs were the same as “Cleans and Bl;ues” but many weren’t. For example “Randall Santa Rtm” the cab listed as 094 empty.
There was something called “Fremen’s Pics Docs” But I was unable to open it.
Is there a list of what cabs go with what presets?

I think you’re mistaking cabs for presets? U001 is a Vox cab, not an acoustic guitar impulse. And I din’t even share it as it’s a commercial third party one. The user cabs in my packs starts with 003. Also, there’s no overlapping from pack to pack, the cab selection is consistent in all the packs – it’s even the same for AX8, Axe-Fx II and Axe-Fx III (except for the new amp packs).
The list is in the xls document, you can open it with Open Office, which is free. Let me know if that works

Bought your presets for my Helix and use them all the time for live performance – really great. I am hoping to reproduce the same but a little better sound on the AX8.
